Name(s):
Lance Alvers
Nicknames:
N/A
Age:
17
Species:
Human Mutant
Gender:
Male
Alignment:
Neutral
Residence:
New York
Personal Relationships:
Brotherhood of Evil: Former de-facto leader in place of Mystique
Kitty Pryde/Shadowcat: Love interest
X-Men: Barely tolerable
Occupation:
Part of Brotherhood of Evil (at times)
Abilities:
Seismic Shockwaves: Avalanche possesses the ability to generate powerful seismic waves from his hands, which creates highly destructive effects. The waves can cause an inorganic object to shatter or crumble into dust, and has a considerable effect on organic matter as well. When directed against large objects like buildings or upon the earth itself, the seismic waves can produce effects similar to those of an earthquake or avalanche within limited areas. Avalanche need not touch an object to affect it; he can direct the waves against it from some distance away.
Battle Suit: To protect his body from collateral damage caused by his own powers, Avalanche wears an armored battle suit that gives him enhanced resistance to injury, which is at least powerful enough to withstand a landmine blast.
Weaknesses:
While he is immune to the generation of his vibratory waves, if the seismic waves were somehow to be reflected back at him, he would suffer injuries similar to those directly afflicted by his powers. Also, he is highly aggressive and has a hair-trigger temper; set him off, and he won't easily stop the ensuing rampage.
Personality:
Lance is a grungy, hotheaded and rebellious loner, with a penchant for begrudging outbursts if set off. This attitude shows that he's not a heavy thinker; often irrational and driven by his temper. Mostly, he's angered by the societal hatred and contempt for mutants, whether or not they're good or evil. While irritated by his teammates in the Brotherhood of Evil, he tends to act as their "caretaker"; committing petty crimes to pay for bills and groceries so they can survive. However, he doesn't really see himself as a villain; merely doing what he does out of necessity, even if it means butting heads with the good guys.
Likes:
Kitty Pride, causing mayhem
Dislikes:
Being angered, the Brotherhood's antics
Appearance:
Bio:
Lance Alvers came from the same home town as Kitty Pride; however, he had a quite harsher upbringing. He grew up as a streetwise orphan who seemed angry at the world, mainly due to how society shunned his kind. Confused and alienated, he was a perfect target for Mystique and the Brotherhood. Joining them, he caused some trouble for the X-Men, and generally acted as the field leader for the other members.
However, among the X-Men was also Kitty Pride, the Shadowcat. He couldn't help but grow fond of her, and eventually, romantically invested. This, coupled with him starting to mature from being just a thug, spurred him to abandon the Brotherhood and apply to join the X-Men. However, as some of the students *COUGHCYCLOPSCOUGH* were distrustful of him, and after a disasterous stunt that nearly cost him, Kitty and some other students their lives, he realized that he just didn't fit among the good guys, and returned to the Brotherhood... if only to have a place to stay.
From there, he generally just fought alongside the Brotherhood, and didn't really bother to take charge; while on the flipside, trying to find out a different way to use his powers rather than wasting them with the group he was stuck with.
