Name(s):
Remy LeBeau
Nicknames:
Gambit
Age:
21
Species:
Human/Mutant
Gender:
Male
Alignment:
Neutral
Residence:
The open road
Personal Relationships:
Magneto: Former benefactor
Rogue: Target of affections... some times.
Acolytes: Former member
Occupation:
Freelance thief, Acolyte (former)
Abilities:
Gambit has the ability to take the potential energy stored in an object, and convert it to pure kinetic energy; thus “charging” that item with highly explosive results. Most charging takes place through direct skin contact. Gambit can also use his mutant abilities to accelerate an object's kinetic energy instead of converting its potential energy. In combat, he's adept in the combat styles of Bojutsu and Savate; applying street-fighting techniques and acrobatics with his extendable metal staff. He also excels in card throwing and thievery.
Weaknesses:
Related to his powers, charging larger objects with kinetic energy is something that requires more focus from him, and takes a lot longer than with something like his cards, due to the increased mass between objects. He also has a problem with growing attached; causing some problems regarding a certain mutant he's grown fonder of.
Personality:
Something of a charmer, Gambit plays things cool for the most part; siding himself not to those he's the most loyal to, but to the side that can offer the biggest sum. He's a mercenary, a sellsword, and he knows it. Not even his mutant heritage could stop him from making deals even with those who would much rather see him hang; particularily if they're paying a great sum, are female, or preferably both. And oh yeah, he's a ladies' man; smooth-talking and suave like nobody's business. With one exception, though, that smooth-talking is strictly business.
Likes:
Gambling, women, cash, Rogue
Dislikes:
Being double-crossed, getting attached
Appearance:
Bio:
As a newborn, Remy was abandoned by his father due to his mutated appearance (the black eyes with red irises), before then being adopted and raised by the LeBeau Clan Thieves' Guild in Louisiana. There, he received the training necessary for a proper member of the guild by adoptive father and patriarch of the guild, Jean-Luc LeBeau. This training lasted him for a while, until certain circumstances involving his blossoming powers led to his banishment from the guild. After this pitfall, he took up gambling to get his mind off things, until he was approached by one Magneto; offered a sum of money for a position among his Acolytes, alongside mutants like Sabertooth and Pyro; taking the name Gambit for himself. While working under him, he squared off with the X-Men from time to time, most notably Rogue, who he initially treated as just another woman to allure with his charm before returning to work.
After Magneto supposedly died, Gambit cut off his ties with the Acolytes, and returned to a life of freelance thievery. However, the Thieves' Guild contacted him to inform him that his adoptive father was kidnapped by a different guild, leading to him kidnapping Rogue to use her powers in order to free him. Though some friction rose between them due to trust, Gambit found himself more protective of her until they successfully completed the task; parting on good terms even though they went their separate ways. Likewise, after returning Jean-Luc to the Thieves' Guild, he turned down the offer to rejoin them, and went off on his own once more.
Anything else? (Optional)
Speaks with a thick Cajun accent (which I cannot gerr-on-tee to replicate 100%, cher).
