Both of them hold no superpowers other than the empathy link between them. They can communicate with one another, and feel what the other is feeling. Gertrude even has the ability to give commands to Old Lace and she'll obey.
Gertrude's own skills is that she's brilliant even for her own age, being the second smartest in her group.
Old Lace, being a dinosaur, has skills for his species. She has sharp and strong claws, able to tear down walls, sharp teeth, good smelling and very intelligent.
Weaknesses:
Gertrude has no physical powers to defend herself on her own. She's not athletic, has bad eyesight and allergic to bee stings.
Old Lace can't communicate with just everybody, but only growls.

Gertrude is the book smart of the team, besides her connection with Old Lace she has no powers unlike the others so she uses her intelligence. She's very sarcastic, making deadpan snarky comments and has a cynical view, especially against adults due to her parents and the rest of the pride. While Gert is raised jewish, she has an agnostic view of the world.
Old Lace is a loyal companion to Gertrude, while she doesn't speak she is still sentient, helping out the Runaways when needed and using her skills at best.

Six children, Alex, Chase, Gert, Carolina, Molly and Nico spied on their parents in what they said was a charity organization, was in truth an occult ritual where they sacrificed a young girl. In truth the six groups of parents were a criminal organization called the Pride, consisting of; Mob bosses, time travelers, dark wizards, mad scientist, alien invaders and telepathic mutants. The six decided they had to runaway and they robbed their parents of what they can get.
Gertrude, being the child of the time travelers, found a genetic-engineered dinosaur that her parents breed just for her, giving her an empathy link.
The seven of them ran off, trying to escape their parents who tried to get them back, framing them for the sacrifice of the young girl and saying they kidnapped the young mutant, Molly.
The teenagers learned that the Gibborim, an ancient race of beings who wished to wipe Earth clean of humanity and start again, formed the pride to do their bidding. The runaways disrupted the ceremony that would give the Gibborim the power to destroy humanity. Alex engineered his friends' defeat and revealed himself to be the mole. He told Nico that Karolina and Molly's parents had planned on killing the rest of the pride and taking their children with them to the next world. Alex offered for his family and Nico's family to go instead. Nico angrily refused and fighting ensued. It ended when Molly destroyed the container that held the sacrificed girl's soul in it (to be given as an offering to the Gibborim). The angry Gibborim destroyed Alex, and as the Pride's undersea lair collapsed, the grown-ups held off the giants giving the runaways a chance to escape in a vehicle called "The Leapfrog".
With their parents dead, Social Services separated the Runaways. Three months after the destruction of the Pride, Karolina organized a reunion, and the team headed off to an Avengers storage complex to retrieve Old Lace. The teenagers decided to stay together, rather than return to their new lives.
However that wouldn't last for long, as they came across a group of supervillains, including one called the Spot. The children managed to hold then back, but an accident sent them flying through the various portals created by the Spot, being scattered.
