Name(s):
Loki Laufeyson
Nicknames:
Loki Odinson, God of Lies and Mischief,BROTHEEEERRR
Age:
Immortal
Species:
Jotun
Gender:
Male
Alignment:
Himself
Residence:
Asgard
Personal Relationships (Optional):
Thor Odinson: Stepbrother and mortal enemy
Allfather Odin Borson: Stepfather
Hela: Oldest child
Jormungand: Middle child
Fenris: Youngest child
Occupation:
Eternal trickster
Abilities:
As a member of the Jotun race, Loki possesses physical attributes equal to a fit, average member of the race of Asgardians, such as enhanced strength, stamina, durability enough to harmlessly withstand high-caliber bullets, and immunity to all known diseases and toxins, as well as some resistance to magic.
Loki possesses intellect of a genius, and has extensive training in magic; possessing the ability to manipulate magical forces for a variety of purposes, including energy projection, creation of force fields, temporarily increasing his own physical strength, granting superhuman abilities to living beings or inanimate objects, flight, hypnosis, illusion casting, and inter-dimensional teleportation. His magical abilities have been described as equal to those the most skilled of sorcerers known to mankind.
He is also an adept shapeshifter, and can change into animals (examples include transmogrification to a salmon, horse, etc.) or impersonating other people. However, he does not necessarily gain the abilities of whatever he turns into, although minor natural abilities such as flight in bird form tend to work. At times, Loki imbues himself with magical abilities that enable him to withstand injuries that would prove fatal to another Asgardian, or otherwise impair them for a moment,
Weaknesses:
In spite of Loki's power and intellect, his arrogance, passionate hatred of Thor, and all-consuming lust for power all greatly impede his ability to bring his well-laid plans to fruition. This, in essence, means that the very instant that either of those three factors get in the way of his schemes, they start to fall apart as he clumsily attempts to salvage what he's been building up to.
Personality:
Conniving and calculating, Loki perfectly embodies the nickname that time has bestowed upon him. Everything he does is meant to further his own goals; alliances made with both heroes and villains alike are only a means to an end in order to achieve what he wants for himself. Notably, though, he feels no contempt for the realm of Asgard or his adoptive father; in fact, if it came between protecting his home and achieving the greatest power known to man, he would favor the former option... even if he'd scheme to somehow attain the latter option as well.
Likes:
Playing pranks, power, discord, Odin
Dislikes:
Thor, being driven into a corner, Thor, order, Thor, Asgard being threatened, Thor... did we mention Thor?
Appearance:
Bio:
Many years ago, when Bor, ruler of Asgard, was battling frost giants, he followed a wounded giant to a powerful sorcerer that was waiting for him. The sorcerer caught him unaware, turning Bor into snow. Bor's son, Odin, found his father as he was blowing away; Bor begging Odin to find a sorcerer to free him, but Odin made no attempt to save his father. Bor cursed Odin; saying that he would take in the son of a fallen king and raise it as his own. Not a week later, Odin himself led the Asgardians into battle against the Frost Giants and killed Laufey, who was the King, in personal combat. After slaying Laufey, Odin found a small Asgardian-sized child hidden within the primary stronghold of the Frost Giants. The child was Loki, who Laufey had kept hidden from his people due to his shame over his son's small size. Odin took the boy, out of a combination of pity, to appease his father, and because he was the son of a worthy adversary slain in honorable combat, and raised him as his son alongside his biological son Thor.
Throughout their childhood and into adolescence, Loki was resentful of the differences in which he and Thor were treated by the citizens of Asgard. The Asgardians valued great strength, tenacity, and bravery in battle above all things, and Loki was clearly inferior to his foster brother Thor in those areas. What he lacked in size and strength, however, he made up for in power and skill, particularly as a sorcerer. As Loki grew to adulthood, his natural talent for causing mischief would make itself manifest and earned him a nickname as the "God of Lies and Mischief"; his mischievousness eventually became malice as his hunger for power and revenge grew stronger. Several times he tried to use tricks to make things tough for Thor, as a way of subtly declaring his resentment for his brother.
One day, however, after a brief frost giant attack that Loki had jokingly instigated, Odin fell into the Odinsleep while Thor was in Midgard. With his adoptive mother refusing to leave Odin's side, Loki undertook a very ambitious scheme, and proclaimed himself temporary ruler of Asgard. This let him briefly come in contact with his estranged daughter Hela, letting him actually traverse through time to instigate his own childhood; freezing Bor, convincing his younger self to go along with his scheme, and even killing the dying Laufey after his battle with Odin had concluded, as a means of revenge for the years of abuse he suffered as a child.
After his return, he made arrangments to use Asgard as a weapon to make himself appear as a god to the lowly mortals of Midgard; however, Thor returned at this time to battle him to a standstill, until Odin finally woke from his slumber. In spite of his misdeeds, Odin, still caring for Loki as a son, forgave his foolish actions, but temporarily exiled him to Earth so he could contemplate his actions. And contemplate he did... oh, how he did...
