Name(s):
Wanda Maximoff
Nicknames:
Scarlet Witch
Age:
16
Species:
Human Mutant
Gender:
Female
Alignment:
Evil
Residence:
Genosha
Occupation:
Part of Magneto's forces
Abilities:
Wanda has the ability to manipulate probability via "hexes" (often manifesting physically as "hex spheres" or "hex bolts"). These hexes are relatively short range, and are limited to her line of sight. Casting a hex requires a gesture and concentration on her part, though the gestures are largely a focus for the concentration. She can use her hexes to light flammable objects, contain or remove air from a particular volume, deflect objects, stop the momentum of projectiles, open doors, explode objects, create force fields and deflect magical attacks, among other things. The effects are varied but almost always detrimental to opponents, including putting a certain "barrier" on mutant powers, or causing them to work in reverse.
Weaknesses:
If Wanda is tired or using her powers excessively, her hexes are not necessarily guaranteed to work; in fact, if overextended, Wanda's hexes can backfire, which causes probability to work against her wishes, or even undoing previous hexes. In addition, her mental state is... well... let's just say that it's actually kind of a good thing that she's brainwashed.
Personality:
Initially, one could see Wanda as bitter, prone to outbursts of anger, and generally sort of unhinged when it came to her restraints; all hinging on her past regarding her father and brother. After spending time with the Brotherhood and being subjected to Mastermind's control, Wanda grew a lot more well-adjusted and calm, which has led to a more aloof and dry look on the world, with the exception of her devotion to Magneto.
Likes:
Magneto's cause, calm periods
Dislikes:
People disbelieving Magneto, being annoyed
Appearance:
Bio:
Wanda Maximoff was the daughter of the mutant called Magneto and the gypsy named Magda. Just prior to Wanda's birth, Magda fled from Magneto, terrified of the bizarre powers he suddenly manifested and his intentions of world domination. However, Magneto managed to take possession of the twins, Pietro and Wanda. Years later, however, Wanda's powers manifested at an early age, and due to her age, she was unable to control her outright destructive powers. To this end, Wanda was abandoned in an asylum by her own father.
In this asylum, Wanda's powers had the chance to properly manifest, along with her deep-seated resentment of her father. As a result, the moment she was freed by Mystique and made part of the Brotherhood, her first instinct was to immediately set her sights on Magneto, and attempt to kill him by crushing him underneath a Sentinel. However, thanks to her brother, Pietro, Magneto was saved in the nick of time.
Figuring that with Pietro's loyalty, Magneto would try and save him, Wanda enlisted Caliban to aid her in tracking down her brother, before she caught him and handed him over to the police. However, Magneto did not appear himself, but he sent Gambit to take control of the remaining members of the Brotherhood in Mystique's absence, and instructed them from there to rescue Pietro. It took some effort, but with the aid of X-Men members Rogue and Shadowcat, Wanda was bested, and Pietro was freed. In addition, Wanda was brainwashed by the Acolyte Mastermind; making her believe that Magneto had been a loving father all along; making her much less of a ticking time bomb, and being accepted as part of the Brotherhood.
Some time later, when Magneto created the island nation Genosha meant solely for mutants, Wanda and Pietro settled there with him; abandoning the rest of the Brotherhood back on the mainland. They even managed to discover their half-sister, Polaris. However, due to failing an incredibly important mission, Wanda's brother was exiled, which left only her, Polaris, Magneto and his Acolytes remaining on Genosha.
