Name(s):
Laura Kinney
Nicknames:
X-23, The Second Best At What She Does
Age:
17
Species:
Clone Mutant
Gender:
Female
Alignment:
Good
Residence:
Wherever
Occupation:
Loner
Abilities:
Having been cloned from Wolverine's genetic material, X-23 possesses powers similar to his. For instance, she possesses a healing factor that regenerates wounds she sustains at a rapid rate; unlike Wolverine's healing factor, however, hers has been honed to the point that she can even reattach, and in severe cases, regrow severed limbs. The healing factor, in turn, has granted her immunity to most drugs, toxins, diseases and infections, as it simply repairs the damage done to her body. Also like Wolverine, her physical senses, strength, speed, reflexes, coordination and endurance have been enhanced to a powerful degree.
She also possesses her own adamantium claws, but in stark contrast to Wolverine, X-23's claws are restricted to two claws protruding from her knuckles, in addition to a claw housed within each of her feet. Her training from childhood has also granted her excessive skill in long range weapons and explosives, along with numerous armed and unarmed martial arts techniques. She also possesses a high degree of education, and is fluent in both French and Japanese.
Weaknesses:
Again, much like Wolverine, X-23 possesses a very dangerous berserker rage; however, unlike Wolverine, who is fully capable of suppressing it when the need arises, if X-23 is exposed to a certain trigger scent, she'll tear apart both friend and foe alike. In addition, the healing factor does not suppress pain, and her skeleton, apart from the claws, is not laced with adamantium, so blows aimed to crack bones would still work on her.
Personality:
Upon initially encountering her, X-23 might be mistaken for a typical young woman, calm and quiet. However, as shown by actually interacting with her, she is a lot darker and more complex than one would imagine; being very taciturn and rarely uttering more than one sentence or two at a time. Due to her past, she's grown cold and even somewhat bitter over the course of the years; sometimes even sinking to such a depressed low that she'd even engage in self-injury. In spite of this, she has always shown signs of humanity; actually speaking using proper grammar, and never wounding those younger than her. In recent years, though, she's tried warming up to the world around her, in a bid to distance herself away from her vicious past. However, she still retains the cold, no-nonsense attitude that's stuck with her for so long, as she has trouble comprehending and expressing the many new emotions she's experiencing.

Bio:
X-23 was created by the Weapon X offshoot known as the Facility, headed by HYDRA, using a damaged sample of Wolverine's DNA. The damage was greatest on the Y chromosome, so Dr. Sarah Kinney eventually decided to create a female copy instead. It took 23 attempts to create the perfect clone; thus, her codename became X-23. Part of the idea of making her a clone involved the renowned adamantium claws; however, with a distinct lack of the rare metal, instead of undergoing the same process as Wolverine did many years ago, the HYDRA scientists exposed her to massive levels of radiation to jump-start her healing factor at the age of seven, before forcibly removing her claws while she was wide awake; swiftly replacing them after they had been coated in admantium.
She grew up being trained to be an assassin, so that the Facility could sell her talents to the highest bidder. In order to remove emotional weaknesses to make her a profound killer, she was both physically and emotionally abused throughout her years of training. However, Dr. Sarah Kinney, the only scientist on the team who saw her as a human, tried to free her. Sadly, though, X-23 had been conditioned with a special trigger scent that she was exposed to;, causing her to kill her creator in an unstoppable frenzy. In her dying words, Kinney named her Laura, as a way to show the clone that she could still be a human.
After the traumatic experience of killing her own creator, X-23 managed to escape from the clutches of HYDRA, a lone image burned in her mind; the image of the one she was modeled after, Wolverine. In hot pursuit of the mutant, she invaded the X-Mansion in order to kill him, but found herself equally matched with Logan. The situation was defused, and she went her own way... however, Logan had a feeling that she would get herself in trouble, and pursued her.
In reality, X-23 turned her thoughts of vengeance from Wolverine directly to HYDRA; gathering information of one of their bigger research bases; a mobile HQ where similar experiments such as the ones done to her were being conducted. In spite of Wolverine's efforts, X-23 actually managed to destroy this base; to everyone but that one mutant, seemingly perishing along with it. However, Wolverine's enhanced scent proved otherwise; she survived the explosion, and now roams the country aimlessly...
