Rhodey's an accomplished soldier, due to his experience as a Marine. But he mainly specializes in piloting aircrafts and engineering, it's part of the reason why Tony hired him. But really, his specialty lies in his ability to operate one of Tony's suit's of armor: The War Machine. A powerful piece of machinery with so much firepower, it can put a lot of current warfare mechs to shame. It's armor is a lot thicker than the original Iron Man suit, and as such has more powerful thrusters to help carry it across the sky. It is armed with a large minigun on it's left shoulder, a rocket pod on the right, two heavy Gatling guns on both arms, and some more missile pods built around the chest and legs. It also seems to have a bigger missile hidden somewhere else along with some other interchangeable frames and weapons.More Dakka
Weaknesses:
As expected of a suit like this, it is very heavy and difficult to maneuver around at times. Even the reinforced thrusters can't help control during rough flights. It is a machine, and thus could be controlled through some way by their enemies, although Stark could remedy that if he's around. Outside of the suit, Rhodey's your average human, vulnerable to all the things a normal guy can be, a bit too overprotective of Tony too. He'd step in the line of live fire if it meant keeping him safe.
Personality:
Rhodey seems like a very serious guy, sometimes the exact opposite of Tony. A lot of people might call him a stiff, but with a little push can loosen him up. He just wants to be the responsible, reliable kind of guy, mostly to keep Tony level during his vulnerable moments; though he can joke around from time to time. He tends to stay away from super hero business most of the time, focusing on his own work with Stark Industries or the Marine Corps. But when it's to back up his close friend, he'd gladly step into his armor.

Rhodey was born raised in Philadelphiaon the playground is where he spent most of his days, he grew up a normal kid, and during his years in high school he grew interested in military engineering. This eventually lead him to join the army. Years later, his aircraft ended up crashing behind enemy lines. He would have been a goner if Tony Stark (in his very first Iron Man suit) hadn't picked him up. Since then, he was hired by Tony as a personal pilot, and he swore to repay is debt to the guy. They became good friends from there. But around the time Tony was falling into a habit of indulging himself with alcohol, Rhodey started to lose some faith in him. In fact, he was forced to use the suit on more than one occasion. However, once Tony pulled himself out of that dark moment in his life, Rhodey gladly gave him his suit back, but not before being handed an offer to keep another suit. So from that point on, Rhodey became Iron Man's back up. He doesn't want to be a permanent super hero, but he's always on stand by in case Stark needs War Machine...
