Bayville - Unwelcomed Newcomer

The underground emergency base....looks more like a military base than a dorm. The last time they used this place, the entire world found out about mutants, and Mystique blew up the mansion. At least they found the professor, and they had everybody. Now, Rogue was the only former student here, and that was worse than the last time.

On the upside, she had a room for herself, because sharing it with someone was stuffy; they were so small.

Well she had her shower, but she had to throw away her outfit, for it was tattered. She now had to rely on an X-Men sweatshirt, and sweat pants. Thankfully, her gloves remained intact, because she doesn't feel comfortable going around with her hands bare...what with her powers, and all...

Around then, a knock was heard from her door. "Feel hungry, Rogue?" Ororo's voice called from the other side.

"Oh yeah, come on in, Ororo." she said, still brushing her hair. She so planned on cutting it when she gets the chance. She has no idea how Kitty or Jean can stand long hairs.

Entering the room, she gave Rogue a small smile. "...getting comfortable?" she inquired.

[AnT]

"Better th'n th' bushes, or rocks, or sewers..." she scoffed, remembering her travels. Sure, there were some nice folks that let her stay in their houses for a bit, but...

With a small hum, she simply sat down behind Rogue; looking thoughtful. "...traveling all on your own like that... it must have been tough..." she mused.

"Well ah couldn't stay with Kitty, 'lahke she wanted to. Mah powers are gettin' out of control..." Damaging her old school, back in Mississippi...still haunted her. "Ah didn't wahnt t' hurt her family."

"...and that's perfectly understandable." With a nod, Ororo simply looked at her. "It may have been tough, but going on your own to protect Kitty's family... it was very noble of you."

[AnT]

"..." Still looking at the floor as she sat on the lower bunk-bed, "Yeah, but what else are we gonna do. Without the professor, or Jean, or Scott, we ain't got a good representative for us mutants." Blinking, she realized she may had said something stupid, "A-Ah mean, maybe yuh, but..."

She simply chuckled. "I know what you mean, Rogue." she mused. "I may be a viable stand-in for the moment, but even I know my limits." She looked aside. "...we're still working on gathering the other X-Men back here. With any luck, Scott may be one of those to return to us..." Then she closed her eyes to think.

[AnT]

"Don't bother. Ah managed to e-mail him, one time ago." she said, narrowing her eyes at the memory. "Without Jean, he has no reason t' come back." And that annoyed her. Deep in her heart, she wished she can be his reason. But alas, his heart belonged to Jean...

"...I see..." With a hum, she sighed. "...so he allows despair to rule him... how tragic..."

Then, she slowly opened her eyes. "...I know it may seem hopeless... but deep down in my heart... I feel that they're still alive. Thus, I will not give up..."

But when she opened her mouth to speak, the rooms shook. "What th'?!?"

Her eyes widened, and she held a hand out to Rogue. "...stay here. Hide if necessary." With that, she rushed outside to see what was happening.

"But-" she barely could speak before Ororo rushed out. She hated being treated like a child.

If they were to come out to the surface, something unexpected would be seen....construction workers was setting down equipment, and supplies, and bulldozes were scooping up the rubble. It looks like they were going to rebuild the mansion.
