(Since again this is a character with a lightly filled-in background, I'm going to do a bit of freelancing and bring him up to modern times from his comic background-ish. Hopefully no one minds. I need a relatively normal straightman in my cadre of characters.)
Name(s):
Gregory Sanders, AKA 'Vigilante'
Nicknames:
Greg, Vige, 'That gun-wielding menace' (Pretty much any crook that runs across him).
Age:
26
Species:
Human
Gender:
Male
Alignment:
Good
Residence:
San Antonio, Texas; location and appearances are itinerant, however, across the great state of Texas.
Personal Relationships (Optional):
Vigilante's not known for teamwork, so he doesn't exactly have a lot of friends in superhero society. Most of his enemies are drug dealers, mob bosses, pimps, thieves, bank robbers, car hijackers, and the like.
Occupation:
Gregory Sanders, is a professional daredevil and rodeo rider. The guy has nerves of steel and an iron will, and wouldn't be caught dead having a job where he wasn't chasing the adrenaline high.
…
Not! He's not dumb enough to be caught like that- showing up along a rodeo trail would much more easily make people draw conclusions. Greg Sanders works as a weapons researcher and engineer for Southern Pride Industries, a small weapons manufacturing firm in San Antonio. In his downtime, he records and sings country-western music and is actually a rather good singer.
Abilities:
Gregory Sanders is not a mutant nor a powered human of any shape or form- he is simply a normal guy. However, he is much smarter than his bad grammar and his cowboy looks and attitude bely. He's a great mechanic and chemical and mechanical engineer, designing much of his own equipment in his one-man war against crime in Texas.
Energy Magnum (x2) – One of his biggest innovations (which he keeps mostly secret at this point) is the invention of two powerful energy magnums, which are powered by charged capacitors that take the place of bullets in his revolvers. They're specially designed to take the heavy-handed nature of these shots, and much of the energy is converted from kinetic energy into heat energy, recharging the capacitors. He does have to replace them, but instead of six rounds in each revolver, it comes out closer to being 36 apiece before he has to reload and expend a cylinder.
Specially-made Lariat – Vigilante's lariat (lasso) is made of a special fabric that is close to Kevlar, making it very strong and able to rope down much stronger or sharper objects than a tough rope lariat would.
Harley Davidson WLA-X – Vigilante's pride and joy is a modernized Harley Davidson WLA (military motorcycle from WWII) that his Grandpa had…err…absconded with after the war. He's modified it to make the engine much more powerful and make the whole thing faster and more efficient, giving him about the best ride in Texas. The bike can top 150mph easily, and is equipped to take bullets to the engine and still come out alright.
Specially-made clothing - Vigilante's not an idiot. He knows he's going to be going into danger. His jeans, shirt, kerchief, gloves, boots, and hat are all made with enhanced fiber and cloth that make them stronger than Kevlar without being as uncomfortable or bulky. It protects him from all but the highest caliber rounds, as well as being fireproof and waterproof.
Fighting skill - Vigilante may not be Batman, but he does know a thing or two about brawling and fighting. He's actually rather strong and pretty fast and dexterous, capable on his feet even without his pistols.
Trick Shot – Vigilante's probably one of the best shots in the world, able to make ridiculous ricochets hit where they want and pull off impossible shots that no human would think to even try and make. He's got a steady hand and because his pistol shots are energy and not matter and therefore not as subject to gravity, it only enhances his accuracy with them (though with those shots, he can't bounce bullets). He's also knowledgeable about almost any weapon or firearm ever made (at least by human hands) and can use it in an instant. Any other weapon he'll pick up quickly and figure it out fast.
Riding – Vigilante is an amazing motorcycle rider and can pull all sorts of silly and dangerous stunts on his ride without a second thought. He is actually a decent horseman, too.
Weaknesses:
Simply put Vigilante is human. He might be stronger and smarter than average, but he's not invulnerable. He's kind of an unknown, and the fact that he's still only human and not superhuman means that he's much more susceptible to not only attacks from his enemies; he's also an easier target to pin down by the proper authorities for dispensing his own justice. Vigilante isn't even his own name for himself; the Mayor of San Antonio called him a 'Damn Vigilante' and the name stuck. Currently he's begrudgingly wanted for questioning in Houston, Austin, Dallas, San Antonio, El Paso, Laredo, Texarkana, Lubbock, Galveston, Corpus Christi, Brownsville, and Plano (not to mention Ciudad Juarez and Matamoros, Mexico). Guy gets around.
Personality:
Greg's a genial Southern boy, a smiler and an actor and showman of the highest degree. He's almost always jolly and joking, though he does get serious when on his second job. A grit-your-teeth adrenaline junky at the core, he's also deeply religious if a tad fatalistic. In his mind, this could all end tomorrow, so enjoy yourself but make sure you're right with God, too.
Likes:
Country-Western music and Southern Rock (favorite singers/bands include George Strait and Creedence Clearwater Revival), barbeque, motorcycles, guns, tinkering with what few gadgets he keeps, singing in bars and playing guitar, Houston Texans football, UT football, San Antonio Spurs basketball, going to church on Sundays, Tex-Mex food, John Wayne movies, and the great state of Texas.
Dislikes:
Pop music and rap, driving small cars, losing his hat, the idea of getting thrown in jail with people he put in there, the idea of losing his ability to fight back, being out of gas.

Bio:
Gregory Sanders was born in Lamesa, Texas, a small town in the region known as the Staked Plain or Llano Estacado. His parents are Jeremy and Elena Sanders, and he's the fifth of six kids. He grew up on the family ranch riding horses and learning all sort of skills from his father, who was an old rodeo hand, and his grandfather, who was a soldier in the ETO in WWII that participated in the Battle of the Bulge and Operation Market Garden as part of the 82nd Airborne. For the longest of times he was a scrawny kid, and while his older brothers all went into football, he went into the science club and the choir. Granted, he was smart enough and his family cared enough that he didn't get any crap from them, but from plenty of kids it was ridiculously overbearing.
He graduated high school as the valedictorian and went to the University of Texas, where he would graduate with dual degrees in chemical and mechanical engineering. He quickly got a job in San Antonio working for Southern Pride Industries as a research assistant.
The reason he became Vigilante is somewhat complicated. He'd always been close to his family, and when his brother was arrested in El Paso for being a crooked cop and selling drugs, it devastated him. Only later after his brother died in prison did the truth somehow come out that he was framed by another cop in league with a huge drug dealer that had control of the drug trade between El Paso and Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. This spurred the normally timid and tiny Greg to start working out and practicing his old skills again in a crusade to get revenge for his brother's death. Within two years, he was ready to take on the Ojo del Diablo cartel, and within two months of his start, he'd taken down or on a good chunk of the cartel leading to arrests behind him as he blasted a trail through both cities on both sides of the border. All told by the time he was through, the Ojo Cartel had lost 65% of its estimated strength to jail or hospitals, but not one single death, the boss of said cartel included in those jailed. From that point on, Vigilante has taken on two other drug cartels, a bank robbing ring, a series of small-time thieves, and more than his share of runaway horses and herds.
