(Since there's little background on the DCAU John Stewart, I'm going to be tweaking with this background a bit with some details from the comic John Stewart)
Name(s):
John Stewart AKA Green Lantern (Not the Green Lantern, a Green Lantern)
Nicknames:
GL
Age:
35
Species:
Human
Gender:
Male
Alignment:
Good
Residence:
Detroit, Michigan
Personal Relationships (Optional):
John's been…off-planet for a while. A former US Marine, his best friend in the service was Rex Mason. His training has somewhat removed him from humankind for a while, so he's only been around long enough to make enemies, not friends. He is currently a bit of a new figure on the scene. However, he's a member of the Green Lantern Corps, which has exposed him to a lot of people (Alien, mostly). He had a brief romantic relationship with his trainer, Katma Tui, but they aren't that close anymore.
Occupation:
His education was slightly stilted, but his day job is an architect for a small private firm.
(Okay, slight explanation: Technically, he was supposed to have been in training for ten years. But he enlisted early as a Marine…and in order to get into an architecture school you DEFINITELY need to graduate from high-school. And it takes three years of internship to get a license…sooooo….yeah. I'm shortening his training period. Official story down in his background)
Abilities:
It's actually fairly simple: John Stewart's power comes from a Power Ring of the Green Lantern Corps. This Power Ring allows a very specific but yet radically varied set of powers. Flight, even through space, is possible. He becomes stronger, of course, because the aura enhances his strength. But the big thing about the power ring is that it allows for the extension of this aura in any particular form he wishes to make it. John can make anything and everything he wants, but he usually is simple with his tastes: concussive blasts, power shields, and the like. That got him some ridicule from other members of the Corps, but his military efficiency somewhat demands it. The ring grants him close to complete invulnerability, and is somewhat sentient enough to shield him when it's not completely active.
Weaknesses:
Green Lantern's not particularly fast, and, by himself, isn't particularly strong. He relies on recharging his power ring with a power lantern daily, and even then, he has to go back to Oa every once in a while to recharge THAT. Alone, he's merely a rather strong human being with military combat training. He's somewhat limited by the fact that in combat he's kind of unimaginative, which is part of where his power comes from.
Personality:
John is a bit of a hardass, having survived a couple years in the Marine Corps before being selected to join the Green Lantern Corps. Because of the fact he's been off-planet for a few years receiving training, he's somewhat out of touch with modern society, and it makes him slightly aloof. He isn't exactly warm and fuzzy unless you really get to know him, in which you discover that he can be very emotional- even bordering on joking and puckish at some points- but most of the time he's all business.
Likes:
Fighting crime, being a Green Lantern, the military, architecture (more specifically Modernist architecture such as Frank Lloyd Wright and Mies Van Der Rohe), being back home on Earth- especially things such as football and Earth food. Being on Oa gave him a new appreciation for even a simple grilled cheese.
Dislikes:
Evil, people that can't take things seriously, being told what to do all the time (One of the reasons why he jumped from the Marine Corps to the Green Lantern Corps readily- only to discover that it wasn't what he thought…), a LOT of alien cuisine, his ring running out of power, Postmodern and Contemporary architecture.

Bio:
John Stewart was born in Detroit, Michigan to Marcus and Olivia Stewart, the second of two kids. Marcus was an auto-worker with alcohol problems, and Olivia was a cowed battered wife. He grew up under constant fear from his father's temper, spending much of his time out of school playing basketball until dark and hanging around libraries and community centers, which let him learn to grow up with a lot of different people with different backgrounds. His older brother ran away when he was 10 and he hasn't seen him since. John did relatively well in school and managed to graduate high-school at the age of 17, quickly enlisting in the Marine Corps to get away from his father. He used the military to get his college degree in architecture while he was training and then stationed across the planet. He doesn't have that many close friends in the service outside of Rex Mason, who he met on Parris Island. He has little combat experience in the military, but the training stuck even if he wasn't a big fan of being chewed out by sergeants and by other authority figures that reminded him of his abusive father. But the military taught him combat and discipline and teamwork, which he did appreciate.
A five year term of enlistment service left him with a new education and training and some money and a new, respectable life away from his father and the city streets. However, it was then that he was given the opportunity to leave the planet and join the Green Lantern Corps. The Guardians thought that his military background and his hardscrabble life meeting several different peoples would give him an edge over most normal humans, which proved to be true on bringing him to Oa for training. There, he proved to be a very successful Lantern, even if his combat style was contrarian and simple to the rest of the Corps' attitude. Because Sector 2814 (the one that contains Earth) had a Lantern already in Abin Sur, he was assigned to other Sectors, where he took down the renegade corpsman Sinestro. Abin Sur has recently passed (and passing his ring on to the human Kyle Rayner, who himself is now on Oa for training), leaving the Guardians to reassign John to Sector 2184 and his old home, Earth. For the past three years John's worked as an intern to get his license, but now he's a fully licensed architect on top of his work as a Lantern.
