Simply put, Trask is a master robotists, maker of the Sentinels. He's an expert at playing his foes right into his hands.
Weaknesses:
Well, simply put, he's only human. Like many scientists, he relies on hiding behind his creations. Also, while he's good at directing his foes where he wants, at the same time, he can be overly obsessive; over-looking some important factors to concentrate on a single goal.
Personality:
He's pretty much the typical calm yet cruel businessman; thinking that weapons is the answer for everything. However, he can act like the paranoid lunatic when it comes to mutants. Ever since he discovered his own children were mutants, right before one of them accidentally killed his wife, he wanted nothing more than to, not only wipe mutants off the planet, but erase the existence, the knowledge, of mutants.

Bolivar Trask was the owner of Trask Enterprise, but it all started when Trask learned that his children were mutants...and caused havoc that ended his wife's life. Since then, he dedicated his life to find out about mutants, and set out to rid of them from the face of the Earth, even by deadly force.
Employees, Richard Parker and Edward Brock Sr., developed sybmiote suits to cure cancer. Sadly, the two canceled the project when they learned that the suit was too unstable, and Trask only wanted to weaponize it against mutants. The info of the suits died with them.
Trask began the Sentinel program, building a machine that could fight and eliminate mutants. His forced kidnapped Wolverine and tested the first Sentinel on him. The Sentinel later took on the entire X-Men team, at first fighting them in Trask's underground facility before Magneto caused all to rise to the surface in the middle of downtown Bayville, exposing both the mutants to the world and Trask's activities to the authorities. Trask was imprisoned.
His work and view on mutants attracted anti-mutant politician, Senator Kelly. Kelly used the best lawyers to release Trask from prison. As of now, Trask became weapons manager of the MRD, building Sentinels. However, the past returned when Trask found the Venom Symbiote in a storm drain. Capturing it, he downloaded its memory file, and learned about its host with Eddie Brock Jr. Wanting to study their bond, Trask injected a serum to counter-act the gene cleanser, then let it free near Ravencroft.
